I have good intentions of tackling a few DIY projects this summer. I am hoping that by blogging about these good intentions, I will actually follow through on them! I don’t have any finished projects to show you today, but I thought I would share what I have in store.
Project #1 Paint and recover chairs for my makeup room
I found these chairs on Kijiji and thought, “What the heck? I can paint those, replace the fabric, and make them fabulous!” So I beetled on out to the countryside to pick ’em up and paid 25 bucks for the pair. They are now sitting in my garage, anxiously awaiting their makeover.
My husband pointed out that they are each missing a handle. Yeah, yeah, yeah – that’s fine. I can make it work…right? I already had the fabric and I bought some Tiffany blue spray paint and other supplies from Home Depot.
I’m gonna start this project tomorrow, but I really have no idea how long it will take me. I tend to be really sllooowwww at everything I do, so I’ll get back to you in six months!
Project #2: Make “No Sew Roman Shades” for the guest bedroom
At the moment, there are some lovely window treatments in the guest bedroom. They’re called beige horizontal blinds:
Blecchhhhh!! I need to style it up in there. I originally thought I would try a DIY pelmet box, like this:
But I’ve got a bit of thing for roman shades (shhhh, don’t tell my husband). Unfortunately, I cannot sew to save my life. But then, I found this fabulous blog post that shows you how to do the whole thing without so much as a stitch. It looks like a lot of work, but I’m a bit of a workhorse so I think I can handle it.
I am thinking of ordering this fabric for the project:
Or else, I’ll go with my favorite geometric pattern, Chevron:
For those of you who have commented on how spotless my house looks all the time, here’s proof that it doesn’t always look like a magazine:
Project #3 Re-upholster my kitchen chairs
Right now, my kitchen chairs look like this:
I am just itching to use my staple gun again. Here are some fabric swatches I am choosing between:
That’s just a small sample of what I’ve found! There are really too many fabrics to choose from!
Stay tuned as I hopefully put these projects into motion soon!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
P.S. Happy Canada Day!! I am very blessed to live in such a prosperous, peaceful, and beautiful country. Despite the fact that Canada is home to cold-ass winters, Keanu Reeves, and Justin Bieber’s fashion sense, I am still proud to be Canadian!
